  • Anna Lisa Ahlers M.A., is a research fellow at the Asia-Orient Institute (Chair of Greater China Studies), University of Tuebingen. Currently, she writes a dissertation on “Cadre Autonomy and Local Policy-Implementation: The Case of ‘Constructing a New Socialist Countryside’” (working title), which is part of a broader research project on “Politics and Autonomy in the Local State – County and Township Cadres as Strategic Actors in the Chinese Reform Process”, jointly led by Prof. Gunter Schubert (Tuebingen) and Prof. Thomas Heberer (University of Duisburg-Essen).

  • Dirk Schmidt, Dr. rer. pol, is a senior lecturer for comparative political economy at the Chair of Government and Political Economy at Trier University and has been a member of the research team since March 2010. His current research interests include the political economy of China and Chinese foreign trade policy.
